Hackdays in the ForschungRegion Braunschweig
Neue Gedankenräume erobern.
What makes a good school? Where are there problems? And how can they be solved with digital and technical tools? In the Make Your School - Your Ideas Workshop project, pupils can help shape their school and try their hand at programming, crafting and tinkering. The hackdays contribute to improving digital education in schools and introduce young people to the range of digital and electronic tools. In addition, the aim is to promote the ability to identify problems and opportunities for improvement and to develop solutions independently. Wissenschaft im Dialog aims to provide new impetus for everyday school life with this project, which is largely supported by the Klaus Tschira Foundation.
Hackdays are two to three-day events that take place in an open and creative workshop atmosphere and can be implemented as part of project days, for example. Hackdays always begin with the formulation of one or more problems that the pupils have observed in the school environment. The young people develop solutions in small teams. They are provided with technical aids such as tools, sensor units or microcontrollers. They are supported by mentors who accompany the event and provide technical input. Finally, the young people present their prototypes to the press and the school public.
The cooperation partners ForschungRegion Braunschweig e.V. and Haus der Wissenschaft Braunschweig GmbH have been jointly coordinating hackdays in the Braunschweig region as a network hub since the 2020/21 school year. As part of the project, three-day hackdays will be organized and held at four schools in the Braunschweig region in the 2023/24 school year:
