FIRST Lego League

The House of Science Braunschweig is looking forward to hosting the regional competition for the Braunschweig region on Saturday, February 8, 2025. The FIRST LEGO League is an international research and robotics competition for children and young people. In the FIRST LEGO League Challenge, teams aged 9-16 research the season's theme and face a jury on the day of the competition. In addition, they demonstrate their construction and programming skills with self-built, autonomous LEGO robots on an annually changing playing field, under the critical eye of experienced judges.

The younger teams, aged 6-10, present a motorized LEGO model on the season's theme as part of the FIRST LEGO League Explore exhibition and underpin their work with a research poster. Reviewers have the team explain the results and provide constructive feedback.

Under the seasonal theme “SUBMERGED - The ocean is more than what you can see on the horizon”, this year's participants have the opportunity to explore the depths of the ocean and develop their creative and technical skills in the process. Using technology and collaborative working methods, they are encouraged to discover the hidden treasures of the underwater world and develop innovative solutions to current challenges.

The competition promotes teamwork, creativity and technical skills and offers young participants the opportunity to present their ideas in front of an expert audience in order to qualify for the next round, in which the best teams from all regions will compete again. Spectators are welcome, the opening ceremony will take place at 9 am. There will be plenty for visitors to see around lunchtime.

The event will be an exciting opportunity for schools and teams to present their projects and compete with other young people from the region.

The day of the event will be rounded off with a great supporting program. Steineland will be presenting a LEGO fan exhibition and inviting visitors to take part in hands-on activities. The Steinemanufaktur engraves the original colorful bricks from Denmark and offers a small selection of unusual products for collectors and builders.
