Neue Gedankenräume erobern.
MINT-courses that are attended as naturally as the sports club: That is the vision of the joint project Zukunftsliga MINT. This will be implemented over the next three years in Braunschweig and the region by the House of Science Braunschweig together with the Institute for Didactics of Natural Sciences (IFdN) at the TU Braunschweig, the phaeno and the Codenauts and is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
The MINT Liga of the Future aims to reach young people from peripheral areas, girls and young women and young refugees in particular. Regular and low-threshold experimentation workshops, programming and tinkering courses and hackathons are offered in youth centers and schools in the Braunschweig-Wolfsburg region. The children and young people aged 10-16 form teams with which they compete in the "Zukunftsliga MINT". A suitable program for the respective target group is put together in consultation with the local supervisors. The age structure of the team, any language barriers, personal interests and the appropriate level of difficulty of the courses are taken into account.
At the end of each course, the groups receive points and can work their way up the points table. Which team will end up at the top of the table and be crowned Future Champion of the STEM League?
Courses have been running regularly in the region's children's and youth centers and schools since March 2023. We started with a total of 6 institutions from the Braunschweig, Gifhorn, Salzgitter and Wolfenbüttel regions. There are now more than 10 institutions in which we are allowed to be guests. More youth centers and schools will be added in the new school year and in the coming year, so that we will be represented nationwide. Would you like to take part with your institution? Then get in touch here.
