Neue Gedankenräume erobern.
Almost not a day goes by without new discoveries allowing us to look deeper and deeper into the history of the universe. Space probes provide us with fascinating images of alien worlds, and space telescopes allow us to look back to the cosmic dawn. Hardly any other scientific discipline has influenced our view of the world as fundamentally as astronomy. Time and again, new discoveries have led people to revise their understanding of the universe.
Together with the German Aerospace Center (DLR), the House of Science in Braunschweig is presenting exciting lectures by renowned experts who will provide generally understandable insights into their scientific fields:
100 years ago, Hermann Oberth proved that space travel was possible with his revolutionary book “The Rocket to Planetary Space”. Can we still take forward-looking ideas from it today? The largest research mission launched this year is JUICE - it aims to find out whether there are life-friendly oceans beneath the ice caps of Jupiter's moons. Instruments from Braunschweig are on board, just as they are for the BepiColombo mission to Mercury. Meanwhile, what is happening day by day on the International Space Station? And how can astrophotography bring the fascination of space to life?
The “Astroherbst” lecture series gets to the bottom of these and other questions. As always, there will be plenty of time after the lectures to ask questions and discuss what you have heard.
